There’s a new outdoor adventure right in downtown Poultney—and it’s perfect for families.
Slate Valley Trails has partnered with the Poultney Public Library to bring a Story Trail to the Veteran’s Trails! Start at the main trail entrance by Poultney Elementary School and follow the double track to read along as you go.
Our first featured book, If You Happen to Have a Dinosaur by Linda Bailey, ties in with the library’s summer reading theme: Dinosaurs!
The story will be updated every 1–2 months, so there’s always something new to discover. We can’t wait to see which story Librarian Rebecca chooses next!
We’re so excited about this partnership and the chance to combine early literacy + time outside—helping families learn, explore, and move together in nature.
Huge thanks to SVT landowner, Greg Manchester, for making this possible, as well as our Youth Coordinator, Toby Crisp, and Poultney Public Library’s Director, Rebecca Cook for creating and executing this idea. As always, please respect the trails and landowners, follow posted signage, and help us take care of this special place.
Enjoy the story and trails! ![]()
