Who We Are

SVT is a Volunteer Community Group

We are a non-profit organization and a chapter of the Vermont Mountain Biking Association (VMBA).

Slate Valley Trails, Inc. (SVT)

Our Mission

Founded in 2015, SVT’s mission is to build, maintain and promote foot and bicycling trails in the Slate Valley region of southwestern Vermont.

We Strive to:

  • Build community among local individuals, organizations and businesses.
  • Support the local economy by promoting the region as a place to visit, with improved access to trails.
  • Encourage the positive health benefits of being active outdoors.

Slate Valley Trails maintains more than 50 miles of free, public trails in Poultney, Castleton and Wells.

Our trails are made possible through the generosity of private landowners, with the support of local towns, and by the help of volunteer stewards.  Slate Valley Trails is grateful for critical financial support from members, donors, businesses, and grants.

These trails are a lot of fun. Lots of climbing, fast, flowy descents. Great scenery.

What a gem! The Fairgrounds trails at Slate Valley are fun for all ages and sizes, trails like Bumper Cars and Cotton Candy are my favorite. I can't wait to visit the Endless Brook trails to explore more. I also appreciate the nice parking area and clear signage! Definitely worth the trip! Make sure to support Slate Valley and other trails like these by joining VMBA. I've sent many of our customers at First Stop Bike Shop to their trails and they all have come back very happy!

I had such a great time riding these trails! The mix of technical sections and flowy stretches keeps things interesting. Endless Brook trails are an absolute must-ride if you're looking for stunning views. The trail maintenance is top-notch, too.
